Guidance for presentations to the Welsh Paediatric Society

We want to help you make the most of your talk whether you are presenting a quick fire, or full oral presentation.

  • It is vital that you stick to time; speakers will be stopped when the presentation times (see below) reach an end, even if you are still presenting
  • Don't rush it, keep it simple and lean rather than having too many complicated slides that you rush through
  • Don't just read out your slides; use them as headings to talk around
  • Oral presentations: allocated 7 minutes followed by 3 minutes to receive questions with a limit of 14 slides for your presentation
  • Quickfire Presentations: allocated 4 minutes followed by 2 minutes to receive questions  with a limit of 5 slides for your presentation
  • Abstracts: need to be headed with the title of the presentation (maximum of 10 words), names of the authors, and the institution where they work
  • Sub Headings: there should be an introduction, description of method / design, results and conclusion
  • Case reports: should include introduction, case report and conclusion
